Magnificent aromas of huckleberry preserves, black currant, and espresso lead into favors of black cherry, pink peppercorn, and Mission fig. Ample tannins linger along with notes of Italian plum, bay leaf, and kalamata olive. Full-bodied and balanced, this makes an amazing pairing for carnitas street tacos or Mongolian barbecue black angus hanger steak with wild mushrooms and egg noodles. Enjoy now through the next five to seven years for additional development in the bottle.

The grapes were hand-harvested in small lots and brought to the winery for sorting, crushing, and an extended cold soak in stainless steel tanks before a temperature controlled fermentation with the native yeast. The resulting wine was then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfined.

The small valley within our estate Petite Sirah vineyard gets its name from the enormous hand-carved buffalo that overlooks the hollow. The 2,000-foot altitude, shallow soils, and abundance of rocks provide ideal growing conditions, especially coupled with the inversion layer created by Lake Sonoma. This layer brings the fog down to the surface of the lake, which increases the amount of sun exposure and decreases available moisture. The cuttings for this vineyard came from Jack Florence Jr’s vineyard.
