Captivating aromas of black cherry cola, cardamom, and cinnamon stick set the stage for flavors of fresh-baked raspberry pie, cherry plum, and black peppercorn. Silky tannins linger along with sultry notes of hibiscus blossom, tiramisu, and bay leaf. This makes the perfect pairing for charcoal-grilled wagyu filet mignon with Thai-marinated maitake mushrooms. Enjoy responsibly now or cellar through 2030 for additional development.

The grapes were hand-harvested in small lots and brought to the winery for sorting, crushing, and a cold soak in stainless steel tanks before a temperature-controlled fermentation with the native yeast. The resulting wine was then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfined.

The Rockpile AVA has distinguished itself from neighboring AVA’s thanks to its high elevation vineyards, unique climate, and shallow soils. The vision Rod and Cathy Park had when they originally planted this vineyard and helped establish the Rockpile Appellation to distinguish the grapes grown there is shared by current owners Ken and Diane Wilson. There is currently a little more than 4 acres of the sustainably farmed Rockpile Ranch that is planted with Zinfandel. Ken and Diane also planted some more once they purchased the ranch. A movement has started to call this St. Peter’s Church clone of Zinfandel the Rockpile clone as the clone has adapted to the local climate.
