A picturesque carriage house overlooks a small section of the rolling hillside vineyards on the Rockpile Ranch. Originally planted in 1992 by Rod and Cathy Park, our Petit Verdot vineyard is usually the last section picked. The small, thick-skinned berries have been in traditional Bordeaux blends for centuries, but given the right conditions, this variety creates dark-colored, full-bodied wines with plenty of tannins and with tremendous aging potential along with herbaceous notes of violet and sage. Normally utilized for blending, Petit Verdot has been known to add body to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but can be an exceptional when allowed to fully ripen.
